DISCOVER THE WHY
THE FACTS
Blink Twice is a student-led short film developed over the course of a 16-week semester as part of Rachel Hitt's senior capstone at Texas A&M University. The project is created with access to university-provided facilities, equipment, and virtual production resources, and is guided by mentorship from faculty and industry professionals. This structure allows the film to function as both a creative and an academic work, combining hands-on production techniques with intentional reflection, research, and iteration throughout the semester.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT
At its core, Blink Twice is a deeply personal piece. The film reflects my lifelong admiration for the cosmos, combined with my own experience as a college student pushed to the edge of burnout. The effects of the long nights, constant stress, lack of sleep, and the quiet physical and emotional toll that comes with overworking yourself for success, and the desire always to be better. Through the story of a young astronomer, I explore how obsession can disguise itself as passion and ambition, appearing productive while slowly becoming destructive when left unchecked. The astronomer becomes both a symbol of wonder and a mirror of my own journey of navigating life away from home, learning independence, and trying to find balance while chasing something bigger than myself. By placing these emotions within the vastness of space, Blink Twice seeks to capture the beauty, isolation, and danger of losing yourself to what you love.
